'Companion species' - a term Donna Harraway uses to talk about human relationships with dogs bonded in "significant otherness". Humans and dogs have evolved in each other's company - in constellations with all other life. This collection of photographs is of seeds gathered on walks with our dogs or by the dogs themselves when they pick up brambles and burrs in their coats. Carefully sifting through them we are learning which species are indigenous to this valley and where the others come from. The dog walks take place in a grassland in Eswatini. It is full of indigenous and endemic wildflowers and grasses. A few hundred meters away we have started an organic farm on a degraded and overgrazed piece of land. These seeds collected over changing seasons will be planted here to try and restore the diversity it once had.
